The cast of Sam Mendes’ four Beatles biopics dropped, and people think he should have known better – 21 favourite reactions
More than a year after announcing plans to make four separate Beatles biopics – one for each group member – director Sam Mendes has finally revealed the actors who will play the music legends.
Paul Mescal has been cast as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.

We’re not sure we’d describe these four as fab, but at least we know they can act naturally.
All four films will be released in April 2028, creating an accidental poll on which is the nation’s favourite Beatle. Even if that isn’t announced by the distributor, we can work it out when they release the attendance figures.
All four Beatles biopics will release April 2028 in theaters:
“The first binge-able theatrical experience.”

Pop Base got a bit confused over Ringo Star and George Harrison. We expected them to delete the post, but – at the time of writing – they’ve decided to let it be.

Sam Mendes’ choices got a mixed reaction, with most people remaining unconvinced. Bluesky users had quite a lot to say about it, and some even offered him a little help with some alternative casting suggestions.

It's like in X Factor when they're not getting through to boot camp as soloists so they reluctantly agree to be in a group together

Paul and Ringo are still here. Let them play themselves in the Beatles movies. Do not deage them.

Gabby, why are you late to your work call?
Well, I WAS working in the lab late last night, but my eyes beheld an eerie sight, for my monster from his slab began to rise…
Gabby. That's the plot of The Monster Mash. What were you REALLY doing?

It’ll never happen but it’d be great if they released all four Beatles films simultaneously but audiences didn’t know which one they were getting when they bought a ticket. The cinema decides at random which one to screen
