The man who wrote a Trump presidency into the Simpsons in 2000 went full prophet to predict his imminent downfall

As Donald Trump’s former supporters and devoted followers tear themselves, each other,, and – crucially – him apart over the Epstein files, it’s not hard to imagine a problematic few months for the President of the US, and a difficult set of midterms for the Republicans in 2026.

Screenwriter Dan Greaney, however, has gone a step further than that. The man who wrote the iconic 2000 Simpsons episode in which President Lisa Simpson has to handle the economic disaster left behind by a then unthinkable President Trump has foreseen an early exit for him.

Dan’s prophecy, while obviously an entertaining joke, quite simply got people’s hopes up, and these comments show just how ready they were to get behind it.
