‘What is something unethical that’s now accepted as normal?’ 20 ways people think society is slipping backwards

11.

You know what kind of disappeared? The concept of selling out. I think it’s because times are tougher, but a lot more people have a “do what it takes to get the bag” mentality, now.

The invasion of privacy being normalized is a huge issue and it drives me bananas.

And it’s on every level. Jobs want to be able to text personal cellphone outside business hours, look you up on social media and use programs to find keywords, etc. Our cell phones that we use for everything collects data on our habits, everything we like, what we search, what we buy, where we travel, they also track our steps dude, like, our phones know our every move. People have cameras in their homes, so even hanging out at someone’s house you’re now on camera, or even in your own home depending on who you live with, so you’re not only on camera at work and on the street, but in your own home. People record everything in public with no shame and post it for the world to see and that is crazy. If it’s only you? Fine. But people be sharing people doing their jobs, people just trying to exist, people in pain or hurting. Wild.

Now there’s glasses that record and if people don’t notice they’re being recorded somehow they’re the jerk? Nah, too many sneaky petes.

Overworking. People are way too quick to tell people to get a second job or to study all day every day.

20.

The loss of compromise and empathy.

Society, and some weird advertising, is trending towards a “only you matter in your life and your choices are what’s best for you, never compromise on it” mindset. And while that is true in some cases we have to remember that people are still people, and our choices can hurt people even if we think it’s good for us. Sometimes we do have to take into account how our actions and words will affect someone else, and compromise when we need to.
