Politics congress nigel farage takedowns
Give this congressman who magnificently owned Nigel Farage over his two-tier ‘free speech’ the rest of the week off
To the United States now where – surprise, surprise – Nigel Farage was doing his best to raise his profile stateside by briefly meeting Donald Trump and talking all things free speech during an appearance before members of Congress.
And it’s fair to say it didn’t go entirely to plan. First there was this devastating opening salvo from Democratic congressman Jamie Ruskin.
And then it got even better/so much worse (depending if you’re Farage or not) when Ruskin moved onto specifics, particularly Farage and his party’s habit of banning journalists who oppose their views from coming to Reform UK events.
Democrat @RepRaskin excoriates Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events:
“I’m asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?” pic.twitter.com/pJj0yr7sOK

We need more of this sort of thing in the UK, from both politicians and the media. And these people surely said it best.

FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC.
Go @RepRaskin!! Nigel Farage actually held to account for what may be the first time ever. And he lies in response. I was one of the journalists expressly banned from his last party conference https://t.co/nfYjSAkKB9

This is Farage when scrutinised. He flaps & answers a different question (and lies). The UK media needs to be more like this & hit him with facts & keep probing instead of twerking for him.

I have spent years saying I wished the US were more like the UK when it comes to tough interviews, but here’s a turning of the tables: @jamie_raskin grilling @Nigel_Farage in a way the UK media rarely does. https://t.co/Dq0wPs45f3

Fuck me – UK Journalists take note.
THIS is how you should be interviewing this traitor who is currently in the US advocating for sanctions against the UK.
