‘I work in the back room of a retail store, (like where all the trucks are unloaded,) so I guess that qualifies. There are two things most people would probably be surprised to learn.
‘The first is just how much garbage all of those things come wrapped in. For example, every single shirt is individually wrapped in plastic wrap, with plastic pins holding everything neatly folded, with paper sheeting inside to keep the static from shocking the workers like myself.
‘The other thing is just how these stuff you buy on the sales floor gets treated by those of us who work and be back. Thrown around, dropped on the dirty floor, stepped on by dirty shoes, so please, if you are getting clothes in person, please wash them when you get home.’

‘I did behind the scenes work in a haunted house attraction for a bit
‘There’s always something going wrong, whether if it’s with a costume or props or a fog machine or lights or the set, there is ALWAYS something wrong
‘I was an actor for 2 years and got injured both years, and a couple of the other people in my room had costume malfunctions
‘Fog machines are always too much fog or too little fog or no fog at all, but we manage to pull it off every year, lol’

‘In restaurants and bars the people serving you often work while sick (in the US anyway). Some can’t lose the money but others just can’t get their shift covered and if no showing they’ll get fired.
‘I once bartended a 12 hour shift while visibly shivering and running a 102 fever. Choice was that or lose my job. Can’t imagine how many other people I infected that night.’
