Politics Iran Keir Starmer Tony Blair

Tony Blair thinks Keir Starmer should have ‘shown up’ when the US asked for help in the Middle East, and everyone pointed out the planet-sized elephant in the room

You’ve got to hand it to Tony Blair.
You can of course choose what ‘it’ is.

At this rate Tony Blair is in danger of boosting Keir Starmer's poll numbers.

15.

I gave Blair the benefit of the doubt on the war because he achieved some great things in his time, but joining the Peace Board and now standing with them over us.

That’s unforgivable Tony.

Just once I'd like the headline to be "Tony Blair funds cure for cancer" or "Tony Blair saves children from burning building", and not the usual slavish egotistical shite.

Tony Blair having a pop at Keir Starmer over Iran? Seriously?

The man who dragged Britain into the Iraq disaster alongside George Bush now wants to lecture others about war.

Honestly, the nerve is staggering.

Does he think people have forgotten Iraq — or just that we’re stupid?

This is insane.

Blair is the last person who should be piping up.

If I were Starmer I'd be fairly relaxed about Blair having a pop at me on this issue…

Blair is wrong. Starmer is right.

We’re not turning out for Trump. The man’s an arsehole.

23.

surely Tony Blair, Benjamin Netenyahu and Donald Trump can’t all be wrong about the Middle East?

— Alexander Williams (@floatinginwaves.bsky.social) March 8, 2026 at 3:23 PM

James O’Brien mentioned the C-word …Chilcot.

Starmer’s position is entirely consistent with what he wrote about Iraq in 2003, a fact of enormous inconvenience to just about everybody currently criticising it. Happily for them, just like the entire bloody Chilcot Inquiry it is apparently very easy to ignore.

Somewhere, Tony Blair just looked up from writing an op-ed on why Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize as a shiver runs down his back, before going full Principal Skinner.

Principal Skinner from The Simpson's,.
"Am I out of touch? No, it's the children who are wrong."
