US donald trump King Charles

Donald Trump tried to own the King with his yanky handshake thing and just for once the whole of the UK was cheering on King Charles

It’s hardly an ideal time for King Charles and the Queen (consort) Camilla to be visiting America, but the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence from Britain waits for no man, or indeed monarch.

Donald Trump loves to think he’s some kind of royalty himself, so if anything is going to repair the only slightly fractured ‘special relationship’ right now, then it’s surely this.

And the American president kicked things off in typically Trumpian fashion by doing one of his stupid yanky handshake things on the King, and it’s fair to say it didn’t go quite as he might have hoped.

One of those rare occasions when the entire United Kingdom was right behind King Charles there.

And these people surely said it best.
