Over on Sky News, the channel’s new signing Cathy Newman, previously of Channel 4 News, has been talking to Ian Hislop.
Specifically, she’s been talking to the Private Eye editor about the state of Britain since Brexit and precisely how governable the country has become.
And it’s makes for two and a bit minutes well spent.
🚨 Cathy Newman: “We’ve had five Prime Ministers since Brexit. Has Brexit made Britain ungovernable?”
Ian Hislop: “It looks like it.”

And here are just a few of the things people said in response.
From the chaos of five PMs to exploding food prices, sky-high energy bills and small businesses strangled by red tape… the Brexit experiment isn’t delivering the stability or prosperity it promised.
59% now want to rejoin. The public is catching up.

2. The skewed media landscape.
3. The lamentable political “journalists” over the last decade is astonishing. (Yes there are a *few* exceptions). Not picking quality has repercussions.— Ellis Redding 🇪🇺🇬🇧 (@EBRedding5) May 6, 2026
Only an insane deluded fanatic would want the job now. I think we know who this might be. https://t.co/dxIqWtum1K
