Politics facepalms Reform UK

Bad day at work? At least you’re not the Reform group insisting they’re at a disadvantage because they don’t understand council terms or proceedings

Somebody get Guinness on the phone – we think we’ve found the biggest facepalm moment in council history.

Over at Kirklees, West Yorkshire, the council ran into a problem while trying to elect a leader. The Reform Group leader, Sarah Wood, who had thrown her own hat into the ring for the job, complained that her group of newly elected councillors couldn’t be expected to vote, as they had no clue what they were voting on.

Check this out.

“I don’t understand what standing orders are – what they’re made up of. Nor do I understand what an amendment is. We might vote for something that we don’t understand at the moment.”

“We don’t understand the constitution.”

“I understand just because we don’t know we understand it, we are at a disadvantage. We don’t necessarily know what we are voting for.”

“When you are elected, you have to prioritise educating yourself on how to be the best councillor and representative for your area. That’s on you.”

Steve Carell rubbing his eyes in disbelief

The vote was postponed until next week, giving the Reform Group a long weekend to do the homework they should have done as soon as they were nominated.

Remember when Nigel Farage said that people would know how good a Reform government would be because they could see how well their councillors were doing? Well… he was right.
