Man’s insistence he can smell burning not helping other train passengers

Travel News: A train journey was made particularly uncomfortable this morning, after one man constantly asked fellow passengers ‘if anyone could smell burning’.

The man spent almost all of the two hour journey train from Chester to London’s Euston station asking fellow passengers and the train conductor if they could smell burning. When the man was not asking about the perceived burning smell, he was reportedly walking around the carriage, dramatically sniffing the air.

“At one point I had to put my headphones on to drown out his constant questioning,” said one passenger. “That made it worse, as I just started sniffing the air myself then.”

“He just wouldn’t shut up about the burning smell,” said another passenger. “In the end, I had to blank him out and instead try to concentrate on that unusual rattling sound I’m sure I could hear.”
