Australian faces £5,500 fine for using a drone to pick up a sausage
An Australian man is in trouble for using his drone to pick up a sausage from a Bunnings hardware shop and deliver it to a friend waiting in an outdoor spa.
The man, who only wants to be known as “Tim” says it was all a bit of fun. But The Age reports that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority is now investigating the incident after a video of the ariel snag-drop was uploaded to YouTube.
The Guardian quotes CASA spokesman Peter Gibson:
“Drone flyers must understand the rules are contained in the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations and there are penalties of up to $9,000 for proven breaches.
“If the drone flyer lost control of the machine right above the people at the sausage sizzle there would be a real risk of injury.”
Let’s hope the sausage was worth it.
