35 things that aren’t very old, but old enough you’d have to explain to a young person what they were

Reddit is running a great question:

“What’s something that isn’t very old, but is old enough that young people may have never actually seen one in person?” says Colonel_K_The_Great over on Reddit.

And here’s 35 of the very best answers:

1

2. Palm Pilot. That strange little in between time when people used to carry a pocket organized and a cell phone.

3

A payphone. A family friend who is 12 picked up one recently and said that it made a weird noise. So I guess they also wouldn’t have ever heard a dial tone as well?

The cockpit of a jumbo jet. I was allowed to tour the cockpit of a huge jumbo British Airlines flight. This was 1999. A few years later and this never would have happened.

It was a neat experience. The cockpit wasn’t fancy — basically cramped and that light military green colour. In between the two pilots was a fruit basket. They asked me about school and future plans. We were over the Atlantic during the night and they showed me another jet that we were following. Very kind pilots and stewardess.
