I worked with Germans for 5 years, and they definitely do not hate the U.K. Until recently they much admired our pragmatism and humour. They think we have gone completely bonkers now though.

What the actual fuck? The @Telegraph becomes more & more like stumbling into a pub & having some racist old man shout at you while you try & order a drink. Something about how it was better when pubs sold mild & only opened at 6.30pm.
