When even the most basic Ikea instructions can leave you totally stumped
We’ve all had that sinking feeling when we get back from Ikea and we’ve got no idea how to put together the thing we’ve just bought.
Except who knew it could extend to something so simple as a toilet seat? Spare a thought, then, for Amber Stent’s mother …
So Mum bought a £40 toilet seat from ikea, gets home and starts freaking out because it’s bright blue and she’s chucked away the receipt.. after about 30 mins of accepting it she’s finally got her head around the idea of having a blue toilet, until I come and read the label pic.twitter.com/50OXqJo4wN

Here’s the seat.

Here’s the label.

And here is what’s supposed to happen next.

So simple when you know how, right? At least she could reassure herself that she is not alone.
OTOH the other day I was cleaning something I have owned for YEARS and the clear protective wrap came off; I hadn’t realised it was there….

Reminds me of the time I took back this extension lead because I needed a six socket one and thought this only had five pic.twitter.com/Febfhb1gQZ

Did this with my very first cell phone, couldn’t hear people talking so took it back to provider. Clerk peeled the plastic off…tada!!

My mum thought the same thing about my kitchen saying ‘why did you buy a blue kitchen?!!!’ pic.twitter.com/eRonpehPCM

But this was our favourite response.
My mum bought a toilet seat, took it out of the boot of the car and put it in the road while she shut the boot. Then forgot all about it. 24 hours later we eventually found it still in the road, drivers carefully manoeuvring around it.

It was eventually replaced with a £1k toilet my mum bought with my dad’s savings after he died. However the seat came adrift without warning mid-transaction & were it not for my quick thinking and muscular thighs I could have died when I was pinged at speed into her mobility bath

Other people had questions about the price.

She got expensive taste what can I say♀️ pic.twitter.com/xSFgDjlOiG

Hold on …. is this not even a soft close one? I pray on every one of those £40 that it was.
There is no way it’s just a toilet seat— Toni T (@MissToniTonez) April 2, 2018
Soft close? This is #Brexit Britain. Soft close is £80 minimum and when you get a brand like duravit, we’re talking £150.

And for others who said the whole thing was made up …
