Dear Debenhams – what the hell is this and who thought it was a good idea to sell it?
People have a question for Debenhams – what the hell is this supposed to be and who thought it was a good idea to stock it?
Debenhams seem to be selling a lamp whose base is a gorilla calling you a wanker pic.twitter.com/iokwZRRIBP

Please say you bought it

Here’s what people made of it online.
that’s surely one of the most hideous things I’ve ever seen. Debenhams ought to be ashamed of their buyers.

That is so terrible. I really want it for my front hall.

It was so popular, in fact, that the Sun’s picture desk got in touch.
hello there, would it be possible to use this picture for an online article for the sun? we would of course credit you. Thanks
— The Sun Picture Desk (@SunPictureDesk) April 9, 2018
To which he replied in no uncertain terms.
Under no circumstances do I give my permission for any part of News Corp UK & Ireland Limited to use this image.

Then the Sun spotted another opportunity when someone posted this.

They didn’t reply, as far as we can tell. But with a grim sense of inevitability, the Sun went ahead and did a story anyway with the original picture (despite being expressly forbidden to do so).

Never has the gorilla’s gesture felt more appropriate.
Anyway, back to the original post.
They’re around 90 quid. I think that’s good value for making your lounge look shit.

It appears to be one of a range.
It’s not just the gorilla. There’s a whole range of felt-finish animal ornaments. Ram lamp? pic.twitter.com/5dTxXZVee8
