No-one trolled last night’s England game quite as well as Channel 4
There were plenty of people scratching their heads watching England’s 1-0 defeat by Belgium.
Partly because no-one knew whether we really wanted England to win, and partly because it was so boring.
The most England thing that could ever happen:
* Deliberately lose to Belgium to avoid Brazil in the quarters
* Immediately lose to Colombia in the second round
* Brazil get knocked out in the second round anyway
* Belgium coast through and win tournament— Michael Deacon (@MichaelPDeacon) June 28, 2018
If I were a player, I’d want to win the match. I’d want to win the group. I’d want to win a bloody knockout game for once. And I’d want to play against Brazil in the quarter finals of The World Cup. That’s what it’s all about.

Are we losing to a team who are trying to lose?

So. Not fussed about the result. Biggest groan of the night here came when it was announced that ITV will have the next England game too. #Hoddle#ENGBEL

But no-one nailed the nation’s feelings as it sat slack-jawed in front of the box quite so well as Channel 4.
If you're currently watching the football, a reminder that Grand Designs comes on More 4 in a bit, where you'll be able to see some actual paint dry. #ENGBEL
