How this US TV show indicated an office was in England required special talent
And when we say ‘special …’ well, have a look for yourself. The show is Keifer Sutherland drama Designated Survivor, about a man who becomes president when pretty much everyone else is blown up.
That’s not the least believable part of the show though. This is.
Before you scroll down take a look at the still and see if you can spot how many things they have shoehorned into this shot to suggest this is an office in England.
Director: She's in England for one scene. It's gotta be convincing.
Producer: You got the red phone booth?
D: Of course:
P: Black cab driving past?
D: Yep.
P: Frilly tablecloth? Tea stuff? Brits dig tea.
D: I'm not an amateur!
P: Framed photo of the Queen?
D: …My god. Genius! pic.twitter.com/J19DrC0C1c— David Milner (@DaveMilbo) June 30, 2018
And if you’ve never seen Designated Survivor this is probably all you need to know.
This show has progressed from kind of ok to so bad it's good to so bad it's too bad to be good in the space of two seasons.

Fucking hell, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the queen hanging up in any shop, restaurant or house in my entire life. Does the rest of the world think we're still under the rule of our monarchs or something?

I went to a Church of England school, which the Queen is literally the head of and I still don’t remember ever seeing framed picture of her… 😂

There’s more.
She’s also supposed to be in Amsterdam at some point, but it’s just CGI, made-up words (one building’s address is a twist on the Dutch word for PO Box!) and American actors who seem to be phonetically reading out loud Swedish insults whilst having a brain hemorrhage

Only to lose all credibility by having blue skies and not the dark foreboding clouds common to the land.

It's missing a flat cap, bad teeth, chestnuts, the old sounding police sirens from forever ago, a cricket bat, an umbrella, fog, a really old vhs copy of a football game from the 80s playing in the background, warm beer, a song no-one sings in a pub about knockers, hugh Grant
