The Daily Mail got its Chris and Gwyneth captions confused and it’s hilarious
There’s an art to writing captions for news photos – they need to give away enough information to pique the interest of readers, without removing the necessity of reading the article. Of course, it’s always a good idea to attach the caption to the correct set of pictures after you’ve written it, which is not what happened here.
Writer Zing Tsjeng noticed the anomaly in the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail has mixed up the captions on a Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin story with images of a man surfing with his dog and I’m screaming pic.twitter.com/4spnGPIAiq

As if that weren’t already brilliant, this exchange took place in the replies.
I love this! Though of course who would ever uncouple if they were married to a golden retriever? My god that’s a good dog.

What if the Golden Retriever kept trying to sell people alternative medicine supplies?
— Dan (@WarioDraghi) September 7, 2018
But Golden Retrievers already are a form of alternative medicine! They need no enhancement.

They are just medicine!

They’re made in a lab! 🙂

Some people played along with the mix-up.

that jade egg thing & the steaming of her lady bits has done wonders for Gwyneth’s coat

Gwyneth's coat is looking luscious, I wonder what her secret is? https://t.co/AV6hOf6487

It isn’t the first time a newspaper has got its captions the wrong way around.
This is like when newspapers accidentally mixed up captions of dennis the menace with The Far Side: https://t.co/QRfK9dMuFV

We have to admit, we agree with Gary Larson.
Gary Larson’s observation on the mixup was that it was embarrassing how much both strips were improved by the switch, IIRC.

But we can’t imagine what Gwyneth Paltrow would make of it all.
