People can’t get over Trinny and Susannah’s ‘job interview’ outfit which really wasn’t just the job
Trinny and Susannah brought out a ‘What Not To Wear’ book to tie-in with their TV show, and some of their advice hasn’t aged well at all.
And spare a thought for Calum Sherwood, who’s still trying to get over it. Fortunately for us he shared the pictures online.
literally OBSESSED with this What Not To Wear recommendation for a job interview outfit. Howling. pic.twitter.com/TY6f21By6G

And there were lots more where that came from.

What's most spectacular about this Trinny & Susanna recommendation for job interview attire; just when every other insane part of this ensemble hits, you spot the bag. https://t.co/MTmBqGLnKj

my Mam did as well! I have a really distinct memory of her keeping it by the phone and I’d always look through it when I was waiting for a phonecall, absolutely iconic

Dress over trousers was a thing! As were bootcut black polyester trousers with a peculiar vestigial skirt attached.

Yeah but those are jeans: for a job interview?!

I think there was a trend at the time to advise ‘creative roles’ = never wear a suit. Not jeans, though! What we can learn from this is that neither Trinny nor Susanna ever had to interview for a job.

This is golden. No wonder I don’t get many jobs. My accessories are just not quirky enough and I feel woefully inadequate.
