A guy said this happened on the train and the responses are a very enjoyable ride
Here’s a chap called Elliot Kaufman, a ‘self-described conservative’ and writer on the Wall Street Journal (and elsewhere) who was minding his own business reading a book on the train when this happened.
And there was something about the tale which irritated the hell out of people and made them react in a way that was both highly sceptical and (fortunately for us) very funny.
