I had a lumpectomy at 16. I sad scared and brought my teddy bear with me. When I was falling asleep he was there. When I woke up he was there with a hairnet and mask. Someone in that surgery team knew he needed to be there when I woke up.

I was homeless in Missoula and my only way of transporting my toddler and groceries to and from the shelter was a stroller that broke at the store. A woman saw me sobbing, gave us a ride back, and gave me a stroller from the back of her truck. https://t.co/oeAsR5RV6f

I was 19 years old, 3 months pregnant, homeless and hitchhiking to LA with my husband. A random trucker picked us up in Utah, drove us to Orange County, let us stay overnight at his home, and brought us to St Vincent DePaul the next day. I’ll never forget.

Had to give my dog up for adoption – never felt heartbreak like that before. New owners found my address on his tags and wrote to me, said they could tell that he was well cared for, wanted me to know he is in a loving home with a big yard, retired parents, and other fur pals.

One person was a witness to such kindness, offered on a regular basis by her own father.
One of my favorite little things about my dad is his dedication to swiping his MetroCard for tourist families who don't realize you can't use paper money on buses and then refusing repayment.
