All of Finland is trolling Donald Trump after he said they ‘rake’ their forests to prevent fires
As the death toll from the terrible California wildfires continues to mount, Donald Trump’s been learning a lot about how to prevent it happening again from his Finnish counterpart.
In particular, this.
Trump: "You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important… I was with the President of Finland… he called it a forest nation and they spent a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don't have any problem." pic.twitter.com/cC8syQobdC

‘You’ve gotta take care of the floors, the floors of the forest, very important. You look at other countries wehre they do it differently and it’s a whole different story.
‘I was with the president of Finland and he said we have a much different, he said we are a forest nation, and they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don’t have any problem, it’s a very small problem.
‘I know everybody’s looking at that, to that end, and it’s going to work out well.’
There was no shortage of people mocking him online. People like this, for example.
Be fair to President Trump when he gets something right !
There ARE fewer forest fires in Finland than in California
It's basically to do with the temperatures
But top class Finnish raking helps to cool the wood down

And this.
I'm relieved that President Trump has the answer for stopping wildfires in the age of climate change. Who knew it was as simple as a "forest rake?" I searched for them on Amazon but couldn't find any. Perhaps a new product for Trump, Inc.?

But the best responses came from the people of Finland themselves.

Hi from Finland. We never rake forests, never. Parks yes, but forest, no. Has Trump inhaled too much smoke, and what smoke. Btw we have here the cleanest air, by far. https://t.co/Bo5Y5dwz7x

As a Finn, I would answer something witty here, but I still have some 228000 square kilometres of forest to rake, so I’m rather busy. Sorry about that.

We don't rake our forests here in #Finland. https://t.co/DTBhWkNZIa

Finland has ~73% forest coverage = 222,180 square kilometers of forests (world bank study). Our forests are densest in the world, averaging 72,000 trees in sq km. That's 22 billion trees or 4,500 for every Finn (yale university study).
Please send help. Must bring own rakes.

Honey, don’t forget to polish the lakes too, it’s your turn.
— margotdor (@margotdor) November 19, 2018
Yep, as a Finn I just ended my daily raking in the nearby forest. It is a hard job – especially when the leaves are under the snow.

Hear the Finns also drink a glass of river water every day. Guess what – no flooding!
— Rick Glanvill (@RickGlanvill) November 18, 2018
No, we just made our rivers run in loops to make lakes.

Do they ever Finnish raking?

Finland is called The Land of a Thousand Lakes for a reason; there are no vast dry forest areas in the country

As a Swede I feel inferior to Finns because of this. While I don’t even have the motivation to rake my back yard, these guys rakes millions of acres of forests ☹

As for the Finnish president himself, this is what he had to say about his conversation with Donald Trump.
