This sketch nails the difference between adverts before and after Christmas
It always seems that we get bombarded with adverts more as Christmas approaches than at any other time of year, but the beginning of January runs a close second. Now, comedy duo Mothers Ruined have identified the key difference between adverts shown before Christmas and those aired after Christmas – it’s funny because it’s true.
Written by the talented women behind Mothers Ruined, Amanda Wilkie and Jayne Sharp, and featuring Jayne, the sketch has been viewed more than 7000 times in a few days, as well as being shared more than 100 times on Twitter.
The theme really spoke to people.
I've been saying this for years. We're told we can eat anything and everything over the Christmas period then bang – A New Year means Detox! Diet! Exercise! Get healthy! Get to the gym! All psychological bullshit 😠

There was even confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth.
So funny and so true. Happy to have made a good living in advertising…sell stuff people don't want and can't afford. https://t.co/uXdKbJQsjr

If an ad man says it’s true – it must be true.
