A YouTube star hid a “secret scrapbook song” in plain sight

Singer-songwriter Dodie Clark achieved fame via her YouTube channel, where she has been sharing original songs and cover versions since 2007, when she was a mere stripling of 17. Her newly released EP, Human, features a beautiful track entitled “Arms Unfolding”, which you can listen to here, if you want to hear the studio version.

It was this song that Dodie cunningly concealed across a month’s worth of YouTube videos, as she talked to her fans – and this is how she did it.

It’s not a million miles from her usual editing style, but some sharp-eared listeners noticed the musical notes creeping into her speech: “Is it just me or does she sometimes sound like she’s singing when she’s talking?”

Having completed the clever assignment, she’s clearly had enough:

“THAT TOOK FOREVER HOLY HECK I’M NEVER SINGING IN D MAJOR EVER AGAIN.”

YouTube users were very impressed.

However, having been fooled once, her fans may not quite trust her anymore.
