The Washington Post has nailed Brexit – and it’s not a good look
Between “Brexit means Brexit”, “a red, white and blue Brexit” and a “jobs-first Brexit”, it seems as though the people leading the conversation haven’t a clue what Brexit actually is. In spite of this, politics.co.uk founder, Ian Dunt, has nailed the current situation in his article for US newspaper, The Washington Post – and it’s not pretty.

His assessment hit home for many people.
Brilliant summation from @iandunt Someone please stop this utter shitshow. PLEASE… @IanDunt https://t.co/dkJtspMG62

Brilliant assessment of the ‘insanity’ of Brexit underpinned by what is personified accurately as as ‘a bubbling tide of jingoistic nationalism.’

But that's only one side of the story, it's nationalist populism serving as the tool of a ruthless kleptocratic elite seeking to cripple the ability of democracies to tax and regulate the kleptocrats.

One Twitter user wondered about the logical conclusion of this kind of populism.
Precisely, daft populism produces daft results, we could have many more daft populist referendums that would be winnable, for example: Bring back the death penalty, Deport all foreigners, Stop paying taxes, Sack the Queen, Leave the EU (oops we've done that one). #populism https://t.co/zkdEkPUsId
