An MP shouting “Ahoy there!” is top Grayling baiting
It’s come to something when even the US is calling Chris Grayling “Failing Grayling”, such is the enormity of his reputation for incompetence. The Transport Secretary has presided over an astonishing Brexit traffic jam practice, caused 800 train cancellations a day with an unworkable timetable and wasted time and money by hiring a ferry company with no ferries. It was the last of these which caused Labour MP Paula Sherriff to shout “Ahoy there!” in the House of Commons at the start of a debate on the incident.
She was instantly admonished by an obviously amused Speaker, John Bercow.
WATCH: The Speaker of the House, John Bercow, just had to rebuke a Labour MP for shouting "Ahoy There!" at the Transport Secretary Chris Grayling – presumably in reference to his utterly shambolic handling of the Seaborne Freight debacle!#AhoyThere#FailingGrayling pic.twitter.com/78pT8zDWZX

Some people couldn’t get over the Speaker’s unique style.

But many people just enjoyed seeing the piss being taken out of Chris Grayling.

He's good, Bercow – made sure the joke was repeated for anyone who didn't quite hear the off-mic comment. https://t.co/O8GGQTxNZ8

Excellent. ‘Ahoy there’ should be the greeting Grayling receives everywhere he goes from now on

Paula Sherriff MP apparently shouting "Ahoy there!" as HoC were deciding to have a debate on awarding of ferry contracts really made me laugh.

As political journalist Richard Wheeler pointed out, it’s just not the same written down.
