An MP tried to correct Diane Abbott’s grammar and it’s a very enjoyable self-own
Self-own of the day goes to MP Mike Gapes who went on Twitter – naturally – to correct fellow MP Diane Abbott’s grammar.
Except, er, well have a look for yourself.
We’re not sure if he’s suggesting leader should have a capital ‘L’ (it shouldn’t) or whether ‘its’ should have that unfortunate apostrophe (it shouldn’t).
So he was wrong on every front which is presumably why the former Labour MP who switched to Change UK (remember them?) later deleted it.
With a capital D.
Mike Gapes just tried to correct Diane Abbott's grammar… except she was right and he was wrong. Good job Miwk. (Now deleted) @MikeGapes pic.twitter.com/OGAGXl2gPy

Me: "Hi, Mr Gapes, there are still some people who don't think you're a petty, incompetent dolt"

Mr Gapes, of The Illiterate Group, has now deleted his tweet. Fortunately, about 1,000 of us did screengrab it 😀

That tweet is so wrong in so many different ways. He's almost a genius managing it in two words.

@MikeGapes@HackneyAbbott's grammar and punctuation are both correct.
