Boris Johnson wants minor offenders to work in ‘fluorescent-jacketed chain gangs’

Wonder if the Boris Johnson who wants to bring back chain gangs for anti-social behaviour is related to the Boris Johnson who was once a member of the notorious Bullingdon vandals.

Chain Gangs. Such an intelligent solution. Such vision. Sarcasm emoji.

Well, I can't be the only one who's spent most of the afternoon singing "Hi-Viz chain gangs" to the tune of Good Day Sunshine. I know I'm certainly not the only one now.

“Right, lads, the Beating Crime Plan. What do we think?”
“Well, I’ve compiled a list of studies showing that a lot of crime has its roots in inequality, so I think we should focus on that.”
[raucous laughter]
“Lol, just fucking with you. Stop and search or chain gangs? Both?”

Offenders who exhibit anti-social behaviour should be put in hi-vis chain gangs, says Boris Johnson….
Apparently without any sense of irony at all.

The CEO of Timpsons – the shoe repair business – proposed a more positive approach.
Instead of making offenders wear high viz jackets in chain gangs, how about helping them get a real job instead? In my shops we employ lots of ex offenders and they wear a shirt and tie. Same people, different approach, a much better outcome.
