Brits reckon these Americans must be trolling them over these short distance walks

We’ve featured plenty of posts on these pages about the cultural differences between the US and the UK and this particular difference is somewhere close to the very top.

It’s a Twitter exchange about walking short/incredibly long (delete depending on where you are from) distances which went wildly viral after it was shared by @fitzfromdublin.

This is the direct result of American car dependency.

Talk to someone who lives in a city where they aren't required to own a car to get anywhere and they will not balk at 23 minutes of walking.

Europeans: that’s an easy walking distance

Americans: that’s my morning commute
Europeans: OMG, that’s like three countries away!

In fairness even a 23 min walk is fairly miserable if it’s along the verge of dual carriageway in the searing heat or whatever but I suspect that’s often not the case here
