This Reform UK candidate’s reaction to crowds arriving at an airport is today’s most WTF thing

The Reform UK candidate for Leigh and Atherton, George Woodward, may just have secured the Most Ridiculous Reason for Standing for Parliament Award, with this anecdote he told to Lewis Goodall of the News Agents podcast.

Brace yourself – it’s a doozy.

“I had a moment last year I was coming through an airport. It was the arrivals, you know, the British border. And I was like wow, you know, there’s a lot of people coming in here. And we need to re-examine this.”

“What, the airport? Lots of those were probably tourists, presumably, or British people coming from abroad.”

“Some, absolutely. Some not. So, you can tell.”

Twitter/X got wind of it.

There was a sudden outbreak of facepalming.

Plot twist, he can’t be as stupid as he appears –

George (or Ronnie, as he was previously known) is not only a doctor, but is a doctor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. That’s the branch that includes rocket science.

The longer version of that conversation is in the second part of this New Agents clip. The woman in the first part, who intends to vote for Dr George Woodward, will have you shaking your head, too.

Thoughts and prayers for Leigh and Atherton.
