Trump's mother Màiri Anna Nic Leòid was a penniless migrant who spoke English as her 2nd language. The tenth child of an impoverished crofter who arrived in America as a domestic worker.
Her son is now charging $5 million a visa to shut the gates in the face of people like her. https://t.co/urjlW4lzZ9

JD Vance: “immigration shouldn’t exist. American citizenship is a special, spiritual thing. If your ancestors didn’t bleed on the Mayflower you aren’t a heritage (read: real) American”
Trump: “It’s called the Gold Card. You buy one and you’re an American, poof, just like that.” https://t.co/TkkXpboBZh

It’s hard to argue with this.
Everything is for sale in Trump's America. JFC. MAGA thought Trump doesn't want any form of immigration.

However, as with so many Trump administration schemes, it’s unlikely to pass legal scrutiny.
A couple of thoughts:
– We already have a similar program, the EB-5 visa, but that requires investing $500k or 1 million in US businesses and creating jobs, not just buying in.
– Trump can't do anything like this without Congress. The president can't sell green cards. Period. https://t.co/3PxkzTc2wn— Aaron Reichlin-Melnick (@ReichlinMelnick) February 25, 2025
