‘The archaic political system. Make the Lords elected instead of bought, halve the number of MPs, implement proportional representation and jail the cnts when they tell tell lies!’

‘Sockets in the bathroom. I’ve managed not to die drying my hair comfortably in front of my bathroom mirror until I was 40 and moved to UK. Now I dry my hair in the corridor, without the mirror, trying blindly give my bob some decent shape ’

‘The roads, they’re abysmal and have been for decades. Whenever a hole appears, the cheapest contractor shovels in some tarmac, which lasts one winter.’

‘Accessible crossing points.

‘Sighted people get the full phase (the green man shows for all of the time allotted for pedestrians to cross). If you’re sight impaired or blind in my county the cone to tell you it’s your phase to cross only lasts 5 seconds at the start.

‘So I can arrive at a crossing and it’s green but I have no idea because the cone has stopped rotating under the unit. So it takes me longer to get places and I get wetter, colder ect than everyone else and to add insult to injury people will beep or shout like I am stupid telling me to cross. Trouble is I don’t know if they are giving good instructions (previously nearly been hit when trusting someone shouting it was safe to cross) so I just have to wait like a lemon for the cycle to go round again or risk crossing at the beginning of a car phase by accident and having cars drive around me.

‘I don’t see why I can’t have the same amount of time to cross as everyone else. Just because I can’t see doesn’t mean I can’t make the same judgement as everyone else when given the correct information. If I arrive and it’s already turning I can decide if I think I can make it across in time. I’m a quick walker so usually I would go for it unless it’s a junction I’m not familiar with.

‘Don’t get me started on the inconsistency of how tactile paving is or isn’t implemented. It makes going anywhere new, even just the next street unnecessarily risky. I once found myself just wandering across McDonald’s entrance cars narrowly avoiding me, I could only hear them at the last moment as I was near a busy road, because there was no tactile paving or curb stones so I thought I hadn’t reached their drive way yet. Safe to say I don’t go there anymore! Including all the nearby shops.

‘I worked really hard to learn how to use a cane and I am proud of how far I’ve come but something so insignificant for others makes a huge difference for people like me. It’s hard having places that I can’t go anymore just because they don’t follow the guidelines when building stuff.

‘But it’s alright, the McDonald’s junction is due to be renewed in 14 years so when it’s redone I’ll be able to go there then!’
