16 and 17-year-olds are going to get the vote, and it’s annoying all the right people – 19 top responses

With Labour MPs now presumably wondering if they’ll be next on the suspension list, the party has slightly sidestepped the discourse on the MPs who have just lost the whip for dissent and changed the conversation to whether 16 and 17-year-olds should be allowed to vote.

This is why.

Supporters of the policy, including those in the government, were keen to share the news.

Of course, it left some people far from happy – and it wasn’t hard to predict which people that would include.

Giving 16 and 17-year-olds the right to vote is an attempt to rig the political system.

If this goes ahead, Labour could be in for a shock.

Desperate Keir Starmer is giving 16-year-olds the vote for the next election in a bid to cling on to power.
I say this will backfire and that Reform will do very well with the next generation whose country and life chances are significantly worse than that of their ancestors.

16 and 17 year olds should not be able to vote.

They simply don’t know what they’re voting for.

@piersmorgan
No, it’s not. This is a dreadful idea.

Despite – or, in some cases, because of – that, there has been a great deal of support for the move – to varying degrees of enthusiasm.
