‘People that believe in “chem trails”
Woman at work was telling me and our boss about a recent walk up the Brecon beacons where the view was spoiled by all the chem trails in the sky. I gave the boss a “look at this weirdo” look and he stood there nodding back at me. He then proceeded to tell me about how chem trails are the government controlling the weather. That the Saudis owned up to it after the recent floods in the Middle East and did a quick dive online to prove it.’

‘False allegations.
I always thought it was overblown. Then it happened to me. Took years to sort. She got away with 0 issues, no record or anything. I ended up with a hefty legal bill and didn’t see my kid for 2 years. (Now lives with me full time) Really shocking tbh.’

‘I went to the 2024 Belgian GP, and it turns out people actually support Max Verstappen. Honestly thought it was a meme you saw online, but there were thousands of them!’

‘Almost got scammed by a call centre pretending to be Barclaycard. Only realised what was going on because the guy said my “card had been cloned” and “your card beginning in xxxx has had various transactions of x, y and z in the last hour”. I was stressed to fuck but logged into the app, could see that nothing was pending.
I hung up whilst he was trying to get me to give some details and then phoned Barclaycard who confirmed that it was a scam.’

‘Older people becoming more extreme and believing all the extremist daily mail guff. My dad retired about 5 years ago and is now spouting all the “pensioners deserve everything, you youngsters with your avocado toast” bollocks despite being working class all his life and generally not like that. Absolute nightmare.’

‘My ex’s uncle (by marriage) believed that 9/11 was an inside job by the CIA. His aunt and uncle live in a different country and were visiting his parents for a week and we went over for dinner. We were made to watch YouTube videos about the melting point of certain metals and how a plane crash couldn’t have caused the destruction.
I nicknamed him Tin-hat Geoffrey after that.’

‘Saw a conspiracy theorist in the wild in the Waitrose car park. He seemed like a perfectly normal person, but ran into a friend and started informing her that Royal Navy ships are spraying mind control chemicals towards the coast (or some shit like that).’
