‘Good art and music education. The music department was so active in my school, it played a big part of my life, with multiple choirs and bands, instrument lessons with loaned instruments. It’s largely defunded now.’

‘Sodium street lights (the orange ones). I say this as I was driving back from the Lake District last night and drove past three, and they really took me by surprise. One of them was still warming up too so it had the red bit. Made me oddly nostalgic.’

‘I heard someone mention banging the TV the other day and that was a blast from the past. Bad picture? Get up and thump it. We extended the life of our TV about two years by thumping it when it randomly went psychedelic.’

‘People just ‘dropping by’- no one just makes impromptu visits anymore. My parents’ friends used to drop by all the time and dad once said he’d be hurt if someone passed the house/was in the area and didn’t pop in for a cup of tea. People didn’t bother whether the house was tidy or anything, so there wasn’t anxiety about it.
Now, if people host in their homes, it’s got to be arranged like some kind of event.’
