‘Crocs… always been disgusted by them! Someone bought me some for gardening! Now I go to fucking shop in them… walking the dog… popping to a mates… I need an intervention!’

‘I grew up in a single parent council estate situation. I was snobby about not going to places I considered snobby. Think Sainsbury’s, M&S, etc.’

‘People not spelling things ‘correctly’. I know a lot of very intelligent people who struggle with writing. And even if they’re not intelligent, who cares if someone is stupid? They deserve respect and their opinions still matter.’

‘Books. I used to be one that tried to read all the ‘classics’, and I realised that I didn’t actually enjoy most of them. Now I just read for entertainment, so I prefer to read things that are actually fun to read rather than trying to slog through Moby Dick to say I have.’

‘I had some accent snobbery when I was younger, entirely learned from my parents. I very quickly worked out that was both rude and stupid as a young adult, a lesson I was never able to teach my parents.’

‘What jobs people have. I used to think anything other than working in a lab would be beneath me but I’ve now worked in a warehouse, factory and factory farm and have a new found respect for people who have these jobs long term. The money can also be way better than you expect in factories.’

‘I used to look at parents with kids on tablets and think that’s really terrible lazy parenting. When we had kids I soon realised sometimes it’s ok to just have a little moment and let your child have screen time for your own sanity and good. It’s not lazy, you just need it sometimes. Obviously if it’s all the time that’s not great but how can I judge other parents when you don’t know what they’re going through.’

‘I don’t think I was ever really much of a snob about things however I used to swear I wouldn’t eat knock off chocolates. Fast forward a few years and I love Aldi knock offs.’

‘Chips with a “Chinese” takeaway. Used to think it was a bit of an abomination, but

a) none of it is authentic Chinese food anyway, it’s a weird Chinese-inspired British hybrid mishmash and that’s OK

b) they actually eat a lot of chips in China anyway

If I go to a proper authentic Chinese restaurant I won’t be ordering chips, but with the British Chinese stuff, anything goes.’
