Nigel Farage said Britain is broken, and now we wish we had Alanis Morissette on speed dial – 14 irony-busting responses
Good news, everyone …Nigel Farage has recovered from his weekend lurgy. Unfortunately, it had prevented him from speaking to Laura Kuenssberg about Trump’s bid for World War III, but he’s all better now.
In fact, it’s a particularly timely recovery, because we’d hate for him to have missed a trip to Davos to swan around with the political heavyweights.
It’s incredible that Farage was too ill to go on BBC Breakfast last minute, but has enough energy to do a Reform rally and Davos this week.
He must have a severe allergy to scrutiny.

Undoubtedly, he’ll behave exactly as a representative of the UK should, and not go around badmouthing London to Donald Trump, or anything treasonous like that.
I will be using my diplomacy skills in Davos to help Donald Trump secure an unconditional surrender from the UK.

Because Farage has famously spent years criticising the World Economic forum, his hypocrisy was even more noteworthy than usual.
Reform hypocrisy continues.
After slagging off Davos for years as a smug and conspiratorial meeting of enemies of the nation state, Farage decides to go.

“Nigel Farage, you’ve been very critical of the globalist elite. Where are you going this week?”
“Davos.” pic.twitter.com/ia84laQO3S— Mark Hammond (@MarkHam80780803) January 19, 2026
Before jetting off, Farage appeared at Monday’s Reform UK rally, where both his remarkable capacity for a swift recovery and his complete lack of self-awareness were on full display.

The sight of Mr Brexit himself calling the country broken, after his miraculous recovery, was more than people were prepared to take.

Two things Nigel:
1) You seem in v good shape for a man far too ill only yesterday to face Qs about the madness of your friend Donald.
2) If Britain is broken, it’s due to the Brexit you campaigned so hard for & the actions of the last govt, whose members you keep recruiting. https://t.co/fciRLUL5cs— John Sutherland (@policecommander) January 19, 2026

Basically, those who broke Britain are to rebuild it? That’s like trusting an arsonist to put out the fire.

If ever further proof were needed that Trump doesn’t understand UK politics (and, as a matter of fact, no further proof is needed), this tells you all you need to know.
Donald Trump wants Farage – the man whose Brexit made us poorer and weaker – as the U.K’s next PM
Yes, the same Trump threatening to impose 25% tariffs on us unless we cave to his land grab of Greenland.
