‘What was your worst impulse buy of 2025?’ – 22 people who really wish they’d saved their pennies

‘Can’t think of anything in 2025 that I impulse bought, but one from before was a popcorn maker. It’s probably fine if you like salted popcorn because you can just pour some salt on afterwards, but if you like sweet popcorn like me then you’ve got to mess about making some sort of flavouring because it’s like eating polystyrene if you don’t.’

‘A classic one, but I bought a bread maker second-hand off eBay. It is decent at making bread but it isn’t significantly cheaper than just buying pre-made bread. The bread it makes is OK but usually not as nice as properly baked bread. I enjoy using it, and it’s fun to do at the weekend but I couldn’t be bothered filling it and cleaning it every day.’

‘Downhill bike via Klarna £1100 because I wanted to get into bike parks and jumps.

Then the reality of being 50 kicked in and I have responsibilities to my family, and if I injure myself i inadvertently put them at risk financially. As a result I never used it properly, sold it four months later – gutted because it was phenomenal visually as well as to ride.’

‘Karcher Pressure Washer. It was being sold cheap at a local builders yard. I had grand ideas for cleaning the outside of my house, the windows and the paving. Used it once and got absolutely soaked, plus it was rather crap at clean the cobwebs off the windows. Ended up selling it and made £50 profit so not too bad.’
