‘My college gf was from a rich family and never really understood not having basic goods or food.
‘Their house was always stockpiled with supplies – fully loaded pantry, extra bottles of shampoos, toothpaste, bottled waters or drinks. I remember when I was struggling for groceries one week her mom just loaded me up with all the stuff they had in their stockpile so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.
‘I was used to watering down bottles of V05 for showers, or eating a pack of ramen over two or three meals, so seeing someone just have all of this stuff on hand all the time was crazy to me.’
