‘I lived a few doors up from Steve Coogan for a while in Hove. Saw him occasionally. Didn’t like to disturb him even though I am a big fan. Once saw him standing angrily outside his front door. He had a load of shopping and I think someone had locked him out… not the time to shout ‘Ah haaa!’.’

‘Robbie Coltrane lived next door to a friend from school. One day at like 14 years old we were trying to buy matches in the shop so we could go start a fire, he was behind us in the queue and tried to convince the guy on the till to just sell them to us, didn’t work. He came out the shop two minutes after us and handed us a box of matches. Legend.’

‘Back in the early 2000s I lived in Stockwell (renting with friends) and it was like Stella Street. Joanna Lumley lived across from us, Mike Skinner from The Streets lived just round the corner and drank in the same pub as we did.

Just up from him was Will Self and one Sunday in the local shop I bumped into a woman who I think had been in Eastenders and was (at the time) in the bill.

The previous tenants told us that one night there’d been a knock at the door, and when they answered it, Guy Ritchie and Madonna were standing at the door.

Apparently they had got the wrong house – they were having dinner with film producer Martha Fiennes (Joseph and Ralph’s sister) who lived a couple of doors down.’
