‘What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get?’ – 23 very millennial gripes

‘Constantly track each other while in a relationship through cell phones. That’s just insane to me and feels like tech based borderline personality disorder.’

‘Very awkward social skills. When you try to be friendly or bubbly to them, they often look horrified or very confused.’

‘No replies. They would rather ignore your text. “Hey we still doing that thing today?” If they know they are gonna flake they just don’t reply. And now I’m over here, having to wait on your response to replan my day. It’s inconsiderate. Just communicate.

‘I’ve been told by many Gen Z that it’s social suicide to double text someone or to be the last one to send a text. You always want the other person to text you last, so you can ignore them and feel cool.’

‘One thing I love about them is that they don’t give a shit about work. They fight for their rights and don’t let management bullshit get to them.’

‘I’d like to add something positive to this thread that Gen Z does that older generations don’t get. The conversations around mental health is a big one. The boomers in my life think I’m a special snowflake for going to therapy, reading books about psychology, etc. When actually, I’m the first one breaking the cycle of dysfunction in my family.’

‘I can agree with this to a certain extent. However it seems that they overly exaggerate everyday occurrences or normal social interactions. Every little thing is ‘traumatizing’ or ‘toxic’ and they seem to lack any type of humour (they react to humorous situations by shaking their heads like they’re offended.) Idk, maybe it’s just the ones that I work with.’

‘Casually using AI chat as if it’s 100% factual information without any drawbacks or downsides… Also looking at you Gen Alpha! Do some damn research and fact-check that shit.’

‘As a millennial, I don’t understand their shift toward more conservative values and religion. It really felt like our generation made such strides toward progress, only for the younger generation to make fun of us while voting for Trump (or not voting at all) and going to church on Sunday.’

‘I saw a video where someone was shocked that a kid went on his phone and just purchased multiple hundred dollar flights through there. Purchases over $100 are a laptop level decision.’

‘For me it’s the total lack of shame in taking selfies at the gym. They’ll be in the locker room posing to get the perfect ass pic without a care who’s around to see. The millennial in me just could never, like I’d have to wait until I’m at home or there’s nobody around at least.’

But is this all true, or have millennials fallen in the the boomer trap of simply moaning about things not being like they used to? A Gen Zer speaks:

23.

‘I have no idea what any of these posts are talking about, besides the deep fried memes. We do love weird esoteric memes. But my group of friends goes out, socializes, makes phone calls, dances in clubs, etc.’

What more can be said but ‘Ok Millennial’?
