Donald Trump joked about staying in office for another ‘8 or 9 years’ and nobody was laughing – 17 deadly serious clapbacks
The worst kind of nightmare is the one that won’t end.
Donald Trump seems hellbent on keeping Americans, and the rest of the world, tossing and turning forever.
The President was addressing tax cuts at a recent White House business summit when he dropped this doozy of a “joke.”

We’ve seen this pattern before. First, Trump makes a ludicrous assertion. Then, everyone responds with a mix of shock, horror, and dismay.
That’s when Magas tell everyone to calm down, he’s just joking. It all comes to a close when Trump acts on those ludicrous assertions and breaks every law along the way.
It’s Trump’s special way of making the world a little worse every day and Twitter was absolutely furious that he’s still trying to execute the same playbook with something as un-Constitutional as a third term.

He’s not joking. He doesn’t plan to leave. We’re going to have to force him out. This is why he wants that ballroom/bunker.

This is how he started with the whole “if I lose the election is fraudulent” shtick. If we don’t listen to this, shame on us. That man isn’t building a ballroom for the next guy. https://t.co/L0lR4x4V9m

He’s not leaving peacefully or legally, folks. Take him literally and seriously.
Also, if he plans on sticking around for 8 years, he should put down the steak, burgers and Diet Cokes. https://t.co/wNeJZQKjFN

He means when he’s dead.
His pathology will never allow him to leave voluntarily.
The lengths he will go to go stay, and our ability to counter them, will decide the result of the American Experiment. https://t.co/V23Heb2rtJ— Jim Stewartson, Decelerationist 🇨🇦🇺🇦🇺🇸 (@jimstewartson) May 4, 2026

Eight or nine years, Donnie? Bold of you to treat the 22nd Amendment like one of your bankrupt casinos — just ignore it and hope nobody notices.

“He’s just joking,” they’ll say. Folks, no president should be making jokes about this, but one who attempted to steal an election most definitely shouldn’t. And no American should find it amusing. No matter the tone, it’s a threat to our Constitutional order. https://t.co/acbGePUOff
