‘The head teacher taking me into the assembly hall and yelling at me about my exercise books. My handwriting was never neat.’

‘Born in 1986, went to private school from age 4-18.

– Allowing the 5 and 6 year olds to use hot glue guns with one teacher supervising a whole class. One of my classmates was making a hat and accidentally glued it to her head.

– When I was 14/15 I’d said something snarky to a teacher during our swimming lesson and she made me stay behind afterwards in the unheated pool while she berated me. I have asthma and I got a nasty chest infection. My Mum complained to the school who just brushed it off.

– The same swimming pool had a rough bottom that made your feet bleed. It was supposedly to stop you slipping but WTAF.’

‘Secondary school cross country in PE. This was early 2000s, we were told the route (off school grounds) and told to be back before the next lesson. Route was about 3-4 miles and included wading through a stream of it has rained recently. Good times.’

‘My sister and her friends had the perfect cheat for this one. Run out of the school gates very fast and take a quick left turn into Grandma’s house. Sit around eating cake watching out of the back window and then when 1/2 the class had passed hop over the back fence and run back to school.

I went to a different school where they made us run around the local race course.’

‘Our cross country route went past a friend’s house so we would pop in for a snack and a cuppa and his dad would drop us off near the finish line.’

‘Very niche but we had a very old teacher when I was about 7/8. She only had one eye. She was a supply but every time she covered the class she would often tell us in very specific detail about how she was running with scissors and tripped and stabbed herself in the eye with them which is how she lost her eye.

She would also go into detail about how her son died by choking on his sick in his sleep. Like we were just totally traumatised 7 year olds. What fun!! Who vetted these teachers!!’

‘My horrible old witch of a PE teacher crept up behind me and pushed me in the pool because I was too scared to dive in. I had only recently learnt how to swim and unsurprisingly this did not cure my fear of diving in!’
