‘In Car stereo systems with a removable head unit you had to take out the car with you whenever you parked for fear of it getting stolen. That had little LCD screens that could display text and music visualizations. The most expensive ones played little movies on them. They were the precursor to the infotainment tablets cars have now.
‘I remember in high school (graduated ’04) it was the cool thing for kids who had cars to get. Then they carried the head-unit around with them to show off that they not only had a car, but enough money to buy a fancy stereo. Haven’t seen one in at least 20 years.’
