‘Does putting the hoover away count? Maybe it’s an ADHD thing, but getting the hoover out was apparently my biggest obstacle to hoovering. Now it lives out, I hoover whenever I spot a mess. My mum would hate if she saw the hoover always in the hallway, but at least the floor is clear.’

‘Emptying the storage locker of my life from age 0-30. I just can’t be fucked to deal with it and for now it honestly feels worth 150 a month not to have to sort through it until I get some drive back.’

‘It’s sounds silly (or maybe it’s big depending on who you are or how you do things) but I’ve learnt to stop being a perfectionist with things, stop trying to be on top of ‘everything, all the time’ and just space chores out more, with more flexibility around routines, trusting I will get to things as I am supposed to.

‘I’ve gone from the huge stresses and pressures I used to put myself under to significantly less… everything still gets done, just less often.

‘I’ve found it just a lot healthier for my mental health and what is actually sustainable long term without running myself into burnout and its helped relationships too because I let people help me rather than trying to carrying everything alone.’

‘I’ve given up trying to figure out whether my dark M&S trunk undies are inside-out or not after washing. Especially now the labels are printed-on instead of a proper label, the print washes off within months, and without glasses – my eyesight isn’t good enough to judge from the seam patterns that remain as clues.’

‘I have given up on big weekly cleans (cleaner and I have a whip round during the week) and actual food shopping which I get delivered every Saturday morning.’

‘Oh loads! And it’s made my life so much better!

‘Drying up (it dries itself if you leave it, and that is more hygenic)

‘Ironing (I hang it carefully, and fold it straight afterwards)

‘Shaving my body (who decided that weird stuff should be a thing?!)

‘Wearing makeup (and the associated task of having to remove it when you are tired)

‘Sending Christmas cards (if they are friends, I keep in touch with them anyway)

‘Buying Christmas presents (apart for my husband. My whole family decided we would stop, and it’s made Christmas so much better!)’

‘Separating cutlery. Spoons, forks, and knives just go in a plastic box all together. I’ve got one of those plastic tray things that would keep them separate, but it’s a bit of a fuck on when you think about it.’

‘About a year ago I stopped reading and responding to WhatsApps. I have about 250 unread.’

‘Selling stuff on Vinted. Made about 300 quid decluttering this year, but life is so much simpler when you just take things to the charity shop.’
