Crossrail is now called The Elizabeth Line, and open for mockery on Twitter
Today it was announced that Crossrail, the new railway which will run beneath London, is to be named the Elizabeth Line in honour of the Queen. Boris Johnson said it was “wonderful”. Twitter said some other things…
What an amazing honor. Just wish the Queen would give it a rest with the photobombs. pic.twitter.com/XCn09bUOaY

If they'd only named it after Charles, the Elizabeth Line could've been known as the Line of Charlie.

actually 'elizabeth line' is pretty appropriate: it costs loads, it's loved by suburbanites, & the red alternative is perfectly servicable

"Let's take the Elizabeth Line to King's Cross, then Piccadilly to Earl's Court, and its just a short walk to World of Nicholas Witchell

People complaining about #ElizabethLine – it will seem perfectly normal in 5 years. 'Bakerloo' is a REALLY silly name if you think about it.

I personally think the #ElizabethLine should have been called the 'QE Tube'. Just saying. #CrossRail

They call it the Elizabeth Line because it costs billions of pounds and will take 70 years before its finished.

New TFL line to be called The Elizabeth Line as it costs the taxpayer a lot and doesn't really do anything useful.
