Have you ever spotted the guy with the ridiculous fake beard in Star Wars?

Yes that’s right, this chap has a really obvious fake beard – like Action Man fake

Just look at it! It’s like stuck on pubes made of wool.

Essentially the actor turned up clean shaven on the set for Return of the Jedi, and Kenner Products, the toy company who made all the action figures had already designed the toy so the production crew insisted be wore a fake beard.

YES! THEY GAVE HIM A FAKE BEARD TO MATCH A TOY!

Considering all the pointless tampering George Lucas made to the original Star Wars Trilogy with the “special editions” we’re surprised he didn’t go back and give him CGI facial hair.

Yep, General Crix Madine, the officer responsible for covert actions, he devised the attack on the Endor shield generator and trained the soldiers who accompanied Han Solo to the forest moon, has stick on fuzz on his face.

Wonder what the actual toy they were trying to match looked like? Wonder no more:

Rubbish huh? It looks nothing like him with or without the beard.

It’s also amazing quite how much the crappy beard looks like Action Man

And as a final fact for you: this actor Dermot Crowley is still working and you might have seen him recently playing DCI Martin Schenk in Luther

This post was brought to you by the “we know this because we watched Return of The Jedi over Xmas and went, “He looks ridiculous! Why does he have a fake beard?” and googled it” department.

TL;DR “Best Star Wars factoid is this guy: a fake beard coz he turned up on set clean shaven & they’d already made the toy.”

Happy New Year!
