People were asked for their weirdest school visitors and the replies were A*
The Guardian’s Martin Belam asked people to tell him about the weirdest school visitors they ever had.

He had an anecdote of his own to share.
I remember at primary school we had someone come to give us a talk about Swaziland and they were the…prince[?]…of Swaziland and in retrospect this sounds as random as fuck. But it was definitely Swaziland because after that they used to qualify for my Subbuteo World Cups

And these were the 29 weirdest replies he received (and don’t forget to tell us yours in the comments).
1.
Dave Prowse.
As the Green Cross Code Man.
We all asked him about Star Wars because one teacher let slip he played Darth Vader.
He sighed.
A lot.

A boy band called North & South. In an unfortunate twist for me, I had lied about getting off with the singer (lee) a few months before. I’d specifically picked him knowing (stupidly) that no one would ever find out…

We were given a talk on safety in the science lab. The lady shouted “danger, danger!” to emphasise her point but this was the height of Electric Six’s 2002 fame so the whole class shouted back “HIGH VOLTAGE!” she paused, looked confused and then carried on with renewed vigour

In high school, the Christians would come every few months to try and convert us, with the most memorable occasion being someone telling us about her laser eye surgery in excessive and gory detail, which left me with a lifelong fear of eye trauma and no knowledge of Jesus.

A few years later when I was dabbling with Christianity at Uni, a group of us were having lunch and I told this story. A few weeks later I suddenly realised one of the people I told it to was the original person who told the story. We never spoke after that.

My sixth form in zone 2 West London had a weekly compulsory lecture called “Liberal Studies”. Ones I remember before I started routinely bunking include an old boy, by then a lawyer, who started his talk by burning £50 to show how rich he was, by way of motivation to work hard.

In my final year of primary school, my brother was in P1 & a guy came in to give us a gun safety show. He asked of anyone in the assembly hall if they had a firearm at home…my little brother thought he said “fire alarm” & put his hand up. After that we had lots of “respect”.
