Liz Truss backs Boris Johnson’s campaign for rare beefburgers – the only 5 replies you need
Of all the things that Boris Johnson is promising to do if (okay then, when) he becomes prime minister was this nugget contained in an interview he gave to the Spectator.
It was highlighted by Liz Truss – Tory MP and so-called chief secretary to the Treasury – and, well, this is what he had to say.
Fab interview with @BorisJohnson in @spectator including his desire to allow burgers to be served rare. #rareopportunity 👏👏👏

It’s an odd hill to die on, as they say. And when we say die, we really mean it.

A rare burger would be particularly dangerous and not many chefs would serve them, the mincing of the meat puts some of the surface inside the burger so they have to be cooked through to kill ecoli, but I suppose I would prepare a very rare one for Boris

Good job for Liz that there is no ban on the thickness of mince.

I very much support Boris Johnson's right to eat rare burgers. In fact, I'm all for him eating them raw.

And just in case it’s the detail you want.
Rare steak = safe as long as outside seared.
Burgers made of minced meat some of which will have been exposed to bacteria = completely unsafe.
Complete ignorance of food hygiene & safety.

But if you really, really want one then you can indeed have one.
Rare burgers are allowed. Restaurants merely have to have appropriate HACCP procedures in place.

To conclude.
Burning injustice is a third of kids in my community growing up in poverty. Burning injustice is vulnerable people unable to get the care they need.
Burning injustice is climate change destroying homes and futures.
How Tories like their burgers is not a "burning injustice" https://t.co/UecA9SCfPP— Bridget Phillipson (@bphillipsonMP) July 4, 2019
Oh, and this.
I don’t think these people fully understand just how ludicrously they are coming over to the general public right now https://t.co/UnfQVjvGDq
