A bride asked Roger Moore to wish her dad good luck on her big day and his letter was A++
Just one more reason to love the late, great Roger Moore is this letter he wrote to a woman who worked with him and asked if he could wish her dad good luck on her wedding day.
And it turned out he did more than wish him good luck. Here’s how Ana Sampson McLaughlin introduced his letter on Twitter.
“When I asked one of my favourite authors to write “Good luck” to my Dad, a great fan of his, who was nervous about his speech at my wedding,” said @AnaBooks
And here is the brilliant letter he wrote.

And just in case that’s tricky to read …
Dear Mike
On this special day, I feel it only fair to tell you that I have spent many weeks with your daughter Ana in hotel rooms, the back seats of cars and in railway carriages … and she has given me great satisfaction each time.
That is to say, more accurately, she has given me the great satisfaction of seeing first hand that people actually heard about and bought my book during the whirlwind PR tour we undertook around the UK – she prepared one of the most packed, high profile and darn right gruelling publicity tours I’ve ever done.
It’s a very special day for Ana today and no doubt a nerve-wracking one for you. After all you’ve picking up the bill. Of course, you’ll be expected to make a loving, amusing and perhaps touching speech. Write it from the heart Mike, and you won’t go wrong.
By the way, another tip for you: to make any speech a success, I find a mention of me is all important. I like the adjectives suave, charming, generous, good looking, modest, sophisticated, modest, generous, modest and talented. So slip a few of those in.
I wish you a happy day, a good speech and remember … ‘My Word Is My Bond’ is now available in paperback and makes the ideal Christmas present.
Kind regards
Roger
Brilliantly funny, totally heartfelt and very helpful advice, all in one go.
Wow what a letter! Did your dad mention his new best friend in the speech though?

He was blown away and read it in its entirety! I had told him it was an invoice…

Yes obviously it’s framed in their loo
